Shoppers are able to pick up crime prevention advice along with their regular shopping in a new service by police at Tesco, Oldfields Road, Sutton.
A police officer will be available for up to six hours a week from a police stand just inside the main entrance in an initiative to make policing services available at places which are convenient to local residents.
The Tesco contact point will be open as follows:
Tuesdays: 11am-1pm
Thursdays: 6pm-8pm
Saturdays: 10am-12noon
Sutton Chief Inspector Partnership Duncan McMillan explained: “This is a great opportunity for residents to speak to officers and get to know them as well as raising any issues or concerns they may have. A range of crime prevention advice will be available to match the time of year.”
The initiative will be assessed in three and six months’ time.
In 2013, when contact points were launched, a contact point was introduced at Crosspoint House, Stafford Road, Wallington to complement the 24hr front office at Sutton and the part-time office in Central Road, Worcester Park.
